April 27, 2026 – “With the logistics and IT center, we are taking a key development step for our company. We are deliberately investing in a challenging economic environment and creating infrastructure designed to last for decades. The close integration of logistics and IT enables us to continuously improve processes and make supply chains even more transparent and resilient for our customers,” emphasized Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Management Board of Gebrüder Weiss, during last week’s opening ceremony.
The SAE shareholder has invested around €100 million in the site located at the four-country region between Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Germany. “Here, we consolidate the goods flows of the regional export economy and provide a hub for global distribution,” Senger-Weiss explained.
AUTOMATED FLOW OF GOODS
The building complex covers a total area of approximately 31,000 square meters. The centerpiece of the facility is the 34-meter-high high-bay warehouse with 68,000 pallet storage locations. A fully integrated intralogistics system controls the material flow automatically. Up to 160 pallets can be stored and 200 pallets retrieved per hour. This makes the logistics center one of the larger fully automated facilities in Europe.
Attached is a three-story office building with around 400 workstations. This is where Gebrüder Weiss’s central IT operations are located, along with employees from logistics and other specialist departments.
A key factor in choosing the location was its immediate proximity to the Wolfurt freight terminal. This enables efficient integration of road and rail transport and helps reduce emissions and traffic congestion.
“We congratulate Gebrüder Weiss on this bold and forward-looking step in their company’s history,” says Tassilo Schneider, CEO of System Alliance Europe. “This is an important positive signal for Europe as a business location.”
