HELLAS LOGISTICS MAKES GREECE GREENER

At Hellas Logistics, sustainability is not just a compliance obligation – it is at the heart of the business and helps the company grow.

February 10, 2026 – EcoVadis Silver Medal, numerous ISO certifications, GDP compliance: SAE member Hellas Logistics has been expanding its commitment to sustainable logistics for years. We spoke with European Network & Road Freight Manager Alexandros Antonopoulos about responsibility, added value for customers, and why focusing on climate-friendly logistics is a competitive advantage

Mr. Antonopoulos, where are you today on the path to net-zero?

We are getting closer to our goal every day. We are continuously renewing our fleet and increasingly relying on modern Euro 6 vehicles as well as electric and LNG solutions. Some of our warehouses are powered by photovoltaic energy, which reduces our dependence on non-renewable energy sources. Through continuous route optimization, digital monitoring, and energy management, we offer cost-efficient and environmentally conscious services.

Compliments, but what strategy are you pursuing with this?

By integrating sustainability into every link in our supply chain, we are not only complying with international and EU regulations. We want to offer transparent, responsible, and innovative logistics solutions that create added value for our customers while protecting the environment. Our goal is to continuously improve our standards – going beyond compliance to become a leader in sustainable supply chain management.

The question is, how is this environmental success measured?

Through transparent monitoring of our CO₂ emissions. We regularly report on our progress as part of ESG and EcoVadis assessments and actively participate in EU initiatives for green logistics.

How do you ensure that sustainability is practiced in your company?

We continuously invest in employee training on sustainable operations and health and safety. We also encourage our teams to get involved in recycling and energy-saving initiatives. A culture of continuous improvement and innovation helps us to firmly anchor sustainability in our everyday work and to continuously develop it further.

Are your service providers as clean as you are?

For us, sustainability does not end at our own company boundaries. In our supply chain, we prefer to work with subcontractors who have modern Euro 5 Plus fleets and meet defined compliance standards. Sustainability criteria are an integral part of our partner evaluation, and together with our customers, we develop solutions for a supply chain that is as low-carbon as possible.

And how do customers rate your commitment?

Very positively. Our customers recognize and appreciate our measurable progress in the area of sustainability and see Hellas Logistics as a reliable, responsible, and future-oriented logistics partner. Regular audits, compliance checks, and transparent communication strengthen the trust placed in us. However, customer feedback also shows that sustainability is a clear competitive advantage for us.
