COOPERATION IS THE BASIS OF OUR BUSINESS MODEL

Thinking long-term, acting in partnership: Gebrüder Weiss and Streck Transport have been cooperation partners for 50 years. What connects the two SAE shareholders, what makes them successful? We asked them.

November 5, 2025 – Gebrüder Weiss and the German logistics company Streck Transport have been working together in land transport for 50 years – a partnership that has become rare in logistics.

What began in 1975 with individual general cargo transports between Austria and Germany has developed into a powerful cooperation based on regional strengths: Streck Transport serves the southwest of Germany for Gebrüder Weiss – the area between Ortenau, Freiburg, and Lörrach, including the neighboring Black Forest. Gebrüder Weiss, in turn, delivers for Streck Transport to Austria, Hungary, Czechia, and Romania. Daily transports to these countries ensure smooth processes and high service quality.

Gerald Penner, one of three Streck managing directors, provides insight into the cooperation partners' principle for success.

How important is cooperation for your company?

Gerald Penner: Cooperation is one of the central principles of the transport and logistics industry and therefore forms the basis of our business model at Streck Transport. Without reliable cooperation, we would not be able to provide the majority of our services to our customers.

Are there other partners within System Alliance Europe with whom you have such a close relationship?

We also celebrated 50 years of cooperation with Hellmann this year, although we should point out that this cooperation originated at the national level and has not yet lasted 50 years internationally. Therefore, the 50 years with Gebrüder Weiss in the international arena are unrivaled.

How important is System Alliance Europe for your company?

Our membership in System Alliance Europe allows us to connect our customers in the South Baden, Black Forest, and Upper Swabia regions with their customers, suppliers, or producers. This ensures that the supply chain, as the backbone of small and medium-sized businesses, remains stable and functions smoothly.

Two family businesses on equal footing: What role does owner responsibility play in the collaboration?

Owner-managed companies share a common set of values, which can be clearly seen in the area of sustainability: When making forward-looking decisions, the next generation(s) must always be taken into account and, ideally, already involved in the decision-making process.
